We chat with Jeannie I. Henriques, M.A., CCC-SLP, TSSLD-BE about her journey to SLP. From Switching Careers to Discovering her Passion for Bilingual SLP and advocacy.
Jeannie switched careers after undergrad, she was working in accounting after getting her business degree and realized this was not the journey for her.
Jeannie entered the field of speech-language pathology due to an interest in corporate SLP - focusing on accent reduction until she realized the underlying linguistic discrimination that drives clients to seek accent modification therapy.

Jeannie pivoted once again and became a Spanish Bilingual SLP in the preschool setting. She is now a bold advocate for linguistic diversity for the students and families she serves.
Jeannie is also a mentor for the BEAM mentorship program! Helping grow the 8% of SLPs who are Bilingual and the 8% of SLPs who are from minoritized racial backgrounds.
